How to Build a Catholic Wedding Program in Weeve

Weeve generates a print-ready wedding program from a short setup wizard. You enter the couple's names and ceremony details, pick the four readings from the approved list, choose hymns, and download a PDF. Couples typically finish in about 15 minutes.

Building and previewing the program are free without an account. A free account is needed to download the PDF, save the program for later editing, or export a Word version your stationer can drop into a custom template.

What you'll need before starting

• Bride's and groom's full names.
• Wedding date, church, and the celebrant's name.
• The four chosen readings (First, Psalm, Second, Gospel). If you haven't picked yet, see our guide to choosing wedding readings.
• Hymn selections — entrance/processional, offertory, communion, recessional.

1. Open the builder

Go to the wedding program builder. The setup wizard opens automatically and walks through each section.

2. Couple step

Enter the bride's and groom's names exactly as they should appear on the cover. Then fill in:

• Wedding date — pick the date. Unlike the Sunday Mass builder, this does not auto-load readings; weddings use the approved list.
• Church — the parish where the ceremony will take place.
• Celebrant — the priest or deacon officiating.

3. Readings step

Pick one option for each of the four slots. The Church provides 33 approved scripture options:

• First Reading — 7 Old Testament options (Genesis, Tobit, Song of Songs, Sirach, Jeremiah).
• Responsorial Psalm — 7 options including Psalm 128 and Psalm 34.
• Second Reading — 9 options from Paul, John, and Revelation. Optional at a wedding outside of Mass.
• Gospel — 10 options including the Beatitudes, the wedding at Cana, and "remain in my love."

4. Music

Enter hymn titles for entrance/processional, offertory, communion, and recessional. Hymnal numbers are optional.

5. Prayers

Toggle which prayers to print in full: Gloria, Creed, Sanctus, Lord's Prayer, Lamb of God. Most weddings include all the standard ones; the wizard defaults are sensible.

6. Parish (optional)

Add a parish address and pastor's name if you want them on the program. This step is independent of the bride/groom and church fields entered in step 2.

7. Design

Pick a border style, heading color, divider treatment (the gold ornament between sections), and text scale. Weddings often look best with the classic or ornate border styles.

8. Review and download

The review step shows a live preview. When it's right, click Download PDF — free for anyone. Couples with a paid plan can also export a .docx Word file to hand to a stationer or print shop.

9. Save it (optional)

Sign in and save — your program appears at your dashboard and can be reopened to make last-minute changes. Free accounts save 1 worship aid; paid plans save unlimited.

Tips and gotchas

• Pick readings first if you can. The Couple and Readings steps are the longest; the rest move quickly once those are done.
• Use half-sheet layout for a folded booklet style program, full-sheet for a single 8.5×11 handout.
• You can change the design without re-entering the readings. The two are independent.
• If your wedding falls on a Sunday or solemnity, ask your priest which readings are required — sometimes the day's lectionary readings replace the wedding-specific ones.
