Mercy and Forgiveness
Every marriage will need mercy long before either spouse expects to. These readings name that truth without flinching and give the marriage its source: the forgiveness already received from God in Christ becomes the wellspring from which spouses can extend forgiveness to one another. Psalm 103 sings of God's fatherly compassion; Colossians 3 instructs Christians to "forgive one another, as the Lord has forgiven you"; First John names the love that goes beyond words to action. Choose these readings when mercy is part of your story.
