Christ Conquers Death
Death has been defeated. That is the Easter proclamation that the Church carries into every funeral. These readings name death as the enemy and announce its destruction: Isaiah's vision of God destroying death forever; Paul's rhetorical question, "Where, O death, is your sting?"; Revelation's promise that "there shall be no more death." Particularly fitting for funerals during the Easter season, but appropriate any time the family wants the full triumph of Christian hope proclaimed openly.
